The 2005 Women’s NIT second round game that pitted Arkansas vs. Arkansas State took place at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  This was the first time in many years that the University of Arkansas took on Arkansas State in an athletic competition.  The air was electric in a sold-out Convocation Center, home of the ASU Indians.  The 10,000-plus seat arena was packed with very few standing-room-only tickets even still available.  It became clear that the underdog Indians had the home-town advantage.  The gymnasium erupted after 3-pointer after 3-pointer were drained.  In a most impressive showing, ASU defeated their cross-state rivals, 98 to 84.  Not a single person in attendance will ever forget the night that the Indians wore the crown of Arkansas collegiate athletics.
